SOLID STATE NETWORKS ANNOUNCES FAST, BRANDABLE DOWNLOAD SOLUTION FOR DIGITAL CONTENT OWNERS AND PRODUCERS

Skinnable Client Software is Easy to Create, Easy to Deploy, Easy to Use

DEMOfall '06, SAN DIEGO, Calif., September 27th, 2006 – In addition to the new on-demand streaming media capability it announced here yesterday, Solid State Networks, a startup company dedicated to developing high-performance distributed content delivery solutions, today announced and demonstrated at DEMOfall its fast, flexible brandable download client that allows content owners and producers to promote their product brands and corporate identities while radically speeding the cost-effective delivery of large digital objects, such as computer games and game updates, high definition video and movies and computer software.

Available now, Solid State's download solution combines its Distributed Delivery Network™ (DDN) with new brandable client software that enables content owners to incorporate and display interactive logos and other product-related graphics on their customers’ computer screens during the download process. The new client software allows content owners to completely control the look and feel of the customer-facing software without coding and without incurring the expense or delay of fully custom-developed software, while offering their customers the easiest way to speed content delivery through peer-assisted downloads. The Solid State DDN delivers as much as a 50 to 80 percent bandwidth savings compared to traditional content delivery networks, and provides enhanced scalability without the need for additional hardware or network investments.

"Solid State is giving content providers the ability to achieve a custom look and feel for their downloads, including logos and product-related graphics, without coding or a custom price tag, and enabling them to get to market quickly with a uniquely identifiable offering," said Larry Marchman, the Vice President of Sales and a founder of Solid State Networks. "Our branded client software promotes instant recognition from consumers and encourages brand loyalty, and offers the greatest flexibility for content providers to tailor their Solid State Distributed Delivery Network™ to their specific needs."

Solid State's branded client is a light-weight stand-alone executable that is downloaded, installed and run automatically on the consumer PC at the start of a content transfer session, requiring virtually no user interaction to achieve fast, reliable downloads. The client can also be optionally configured for self removal so that no trace of the software is left on the end user machine.

According to Marchman, the branded client software demonstrates Solid State's commitment to delivering commercial-grade peer-assisted downloads with the features and capabilities required for real-world commercial applications. All Solid State client software is built upon the Solid State Core Library, a software module that provides the essential peer-to-peer file distribution functionality in a lightweight, multiplatform distribution with low CPU and memory footprint.

The branded client software is part of Solid State's flagship product, the Solid State Distributed Delivery Network,™ a hybrid content delivery solution that combines the reliability of a traditional content delivery network with the economic advantage of peer-assisted technology based on an optimzed BitTorrent protocol. Content providers can set desired service level agreements so content is always available with customizable quality of service levels.  Harnessing peer-assisted downloads for business, the Solid State DDN provides the advanced analytics, reporting and flexible integration with content management and digital rights systems commercial enterprises expect.
