What is the DIRECT DLM dynamic delivery platform?
DIRECT DLM dynamic delivery platform is a cloud-based SaaS platform used to dynamically configure a download manager (DLM) client using data sent to a REST API. The DLM is returned to the requesting user to securely manage file transfers for the benefit of both the end-user and the publisher.
What makes the DIRECT DLM better than relying on the user’s browser to manage the user’s download session?
The major browser developers are simply not focused on enterprise and software delivery use cases. Browsers, in general, are very limited in functionality and ensuring a consistent, reliable download. End users suffer through a poor download experience, and publishers have almost no visibility into the operational health of the software download centers and eCommerce downloads. The DIRECT DLM outperforms the browser in every way with built-in security, optimized performance, user controls, last-mile reporting, and more.
What operating systems/versions are supported?
The API returns DLM clients that support Windows 7, 8 & 10; MacOS 10; MacOS 10.12+, and Linux (beta).
How is compatibility with new OS releases maintained?
Each API request returns a new DLM client built on the latest version of DIRECT available. Updating the DLM requires only updating the DLM service API. Each DLM client is configured for single-use, so no update mechanism is needed. Our job is to maintain compatibility with all supported operating systems. Most OS updates have no impact on the DLM, but we thoroughly test each new OS release and are ready to deploy new versions to the DDP if needed to ensure compatibility.
Are there any limitations on where the files can be hosted?
For most use cases, a Content Delivery Network (CDN) should be used for file delivery for the best performance. (You can stay with your current CDN or use one of our CDN partners.) Any storage solutions that can serve as CDN origin storage will work fine, and this includes cloud storage services such as AWS S3, GCP Cloud Storage. Storage services such as Dropbox and Box are not supported.
What type of security does the DIRECT DLM provide?

Can the DIRECT DLM handle multiple file downloads at the same time?
Yes, the DIRECT DLM can request any number of files for download, and the DLM will manage them in a queue for the best performance.
Is there a limit to the size of the software catalog or file size?
No, there is no limit on the number of items you can have in your catalog. We have customers using the DIRECT DLM with hundreds of thousands of files representing hundreds of terabytes of data. The only limitation on file size is the availability of storage on the target system.
Is the DIRECT DLM compliant with GDPR standards?
